You will find a varied list of things to do in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Many adventures await you, including zip lining, cave repelling, deep sea fishing, day trips to secluded beaches, the indigenous Eyes Ecological Park and Reserve and more. Of course, given that this is generally a beach resort area, we would be remiss not to mention snorkeling and scuba diving as some of the most popular activities here. Those interested in an underwater excursion can capture the very best traits of these two water sports in a fun and accessible activity known as SNUBA diving.
If you’ve ever wanted to breathe like a fish underwater without having to learn how to SCUBA, then you’ll love learning to SNUBA. It’s the perfect hybrid of both snorkeling and SCUBA diving, with no difficult certification process.
SNUBA has been around since 1988, and an estimated six million tours have shown people a new way to “go beyond snorkeling,” as the SNUBA website explains.
In contrast to the scuba diving where the diver loaded with oxygen tanks and other equipment in the Snuba tank stays on the surface and the swimmer only need a weight vest and a harness with a tube connecting it to the tank. This not only takes away a big weight off but it gives you the confidence to be guided by the tube and quickly rise to the surface.
